Tele + 18 watt + Celestion Blue = TONE HEAVEN
Played an outside patio gig last night. I've been playing for 28 years, and this was one of the best gigs ever. The band was great, the songs, the crowd, and especially the TONE.
I'm playing a '94 American Tele thru an 18 watt Lite IIb I built <http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=213277>, into a 1x12 solid pine open-backed cab with a Celestion Blue AlNiCo. I feel like Cinderella, just come home from the ball. |

18 wattrs kill with the Tele.
I built a lite IIB as well, it's been my main go to amp ever since. I have 2 cabs I use with it depending on sound I want. Hard to beat the Alnico Blue tone though. What I do in the two-twelve I have is run it through a 12" 70 watt RMS 16ohm Epiphone lucky lady run with an old 16ohm 12" organ speaker prolly rated for about 15 watts with a light magnet. It balances the 16ohm epi nicely. The other one by 12 is just a 30 watt fendr oxford from an old deluxe, it's pretty good too. To me though its haard to do any better than an alnico blue, I just can't afford one. |

I was just thinking a similar thing today-it's hard to beat an M18 with a tele, or most any guitar, really. From what I've heard the Blues sound great in them. Mine has two 10" weber blue pups and sounds fantastic too. This is an amp I'll never sell.

In contrast, I was playing my 1983 Marshall JCM 800 2203 last night, which is the perfect amp for my AC/DC tribute, BUT the head by itself weighs more than my 18-watt head and the pine cabinet COMBINED!
