"Rude Mood" with unlikely gear
I made this demo of "Rude Mood" with a Tele with EMG-T's, direct with a Behringer GDI21 (which was about $30 brand new). For anyone thinking about getting one (or a Sansamp GT2), I think it's a pretty good purchase.
http://youtu.be/xhwDbKHSWdU Weird choice of gear, I know, but I'm pretty happy with the resulting tone. I love analog DI devices and may build some of the cab sims from Runoffgroove. Reverb added in Logic.

Higgs that was great playing! Sounds really good.
I have recorded with the Sansamp GT2 before. Those are great boxes. Did Behringer buy them out or they make a copy of those? PS, I enjoyed your "Roy" youtube clip as well. Nice.

Thanks!
I'm really not sure how Behringer is able to clone the GT2. I had a real GT2 years ago and as well as I recall, it was identical. I'd still love to find a Sansamp Classic for a good price, as a collector's item if nothing else.

For recording purposes, it's possible to get some decent DI semi-clean sounds from the GDI21 by keeping the Drive control very low. I think one of the reasons the distorted sounds can sound bad is because the units speaker emulation is very basic. After recording they can be improved a lot by adding a cab simulation like the LeCab VST effect.
