Tele (w/OCDuff Nancy) and Clinesmith Lap Steel Guitar
Give a listen:
Four Wheel Drive This is an adaptation of the Buddy Emmons classic, Four Wheel Drive. Originally recorded on a pedal steel, I transcribed it for non-pedal steel guitar and have made it the subject of my first instructional video, which will be available in a few weeks with the title, "Steelin' from The Masters". This is just a recording I did live over the backing tracks. The Tele I'm playing is a Fender American Deluxe Ash with replacement pickups. There's an OCDuff Nancy in the neck and a Fred Stuart Blackguard in the bridge. I'm playing my Clinesmith lap steel through a Fender Princeton Reverb, no effects except for a generous amount of reverb. Also, a Kay upright bass and a suitcase with a piece of paper taped to it with brushes for drums. Hope you enjoy. If you have any interest in learning more about Steelin' From The Masters, feel free to email me at mike@mikeneer.com. |

Freakin' sweeeet! Sounds scary close to the original!
Good job as always, Mike. You implied awhile back you'd be doing some instructional stuff and I'm still waiting and still interested.

Great as always, Mike!
I'd give my left <insert body part here, except hand or arm > for a Clinesmith "Bigsby" steel. Since finding out some years ago that a bunch of my favorite twangy "tele" cuts were actually Bigsby (esp. Grady Martin), I've wished somebody would build affordable likenesses of the Bigsby non-steel guitars, at least something sonically close.

Thanks, guys.
Major Ooops: I forgot that this Tele has a Gibson mini-humbucker in it, NOT the OC Duff Nancy. I'm thoroughly embarrassed that I didn't remember this until I pulled the guitar out this morning. |
