Well I got my hands on a Roland Guitar Synth module and decided to go eighties.
This whole idea came when I got my hands on a vintage Roland GR-50 guitar synthesizer module and a GK 2A hex pickup. I was fiddling around with the sound patches when I stumbled upon "Future pad" which sounded just like the sound on the intro of "I Don't Want To Live Without You" prompting me to have a go at that song.
![]() Of course the old module doesn't track that well anymore and the thing is riddled with dud notes and the odd "Bleep" I tried to do it perfectly but after thirty takes I decided to give it up and leave the thing as it is. The Piano part in particullar is riddled with mistakes because of the tracking not being able to follow what I played. It was a blast to do though, it was a complete departure from the way I normally play and it stretched my abilities to the max, forcing me not to think and play like a guitarist. The patches used were: - Future Pad - Synth clavier - Rhodes - Grand Piano - Celesta The rest of the instruments used were my eighties Fender Japan stratocaster, my Yamaha PSR 2500 keyboard to provide the rythm track and my custom Jan Knooren five string bass.
