Alt-coutry worship music? Is that a genre?

Hey - just messing around with a song I wrote for our worship band at church. We like to cover a broad range of styles and I'm a big alt-country fan. Looking for opinions here and I'm a big boy so if something sounds "wrong", go ahead and mention it. I'm going to re-record it in my friends home studio (better equipment). The middle portion will have a guitar solo put in then.
Equipment used: Taylor 110e, 72 Deluxe RI with GFS Liverpool in the bridge, and homemade lap steel guitar with homemade palm pedal for the steel guitar sound.

It's based on Psalm 137

I can not get it to play. But, I am at work and there may be filters at hand.
I will give it a try when I get home.

Not sure if that's a genre or not (if it isn't it should be). I really like your song. Looking forward to your home studio recording of it. That guitar sounds amazing.

Yeah - probably blocked by a pop-up blocker.

Thanks! I'm just learning how to play and mimic a pedal steel sound with it.

That is a great song - really enjoyed listening to it.

I think there are probably lots of churches doing alt-country/Americana type music, but lets pray it doesn't become a genre...

We play a lot of old hymns with new tunes in our church band. I consider our sound to be in the Americana vein as our band has acoustic and electric guitars, violin, piano, percussion and I play mandolin, 6 string banjo, and basic slide on a round neck resonator (as well as guitar part of the time). A lot of the old hymns work well (without new tunes) in this style as well.

Check out the Indelible Grace Project as well as Red Mountain Music to hear some of the kind of stuff we do. Cardiphonia music also does some stuff in the Americana vein - we recently used their version of "Praise The Savior Now and Ever" (this is a link to their performance, not our band)

This is great, I'm playing old Bluegrass songs and hyms as well as what I can muster with Christian music. I have a deep voice and I can't make the Christian music translate usually. This is great once again. Praise God

Thanks! We do some old hymns with the same basic melody and just add a more modern flavor to them sometimes. I listened to the song on the cardiphonia site and liked it!
