Video clips of my side project, Vox and Tele

Here's a video of the Dirty 58's, my side project band.
I'm using my 57' Tele replica, compliments of MR. Volkaert and my highly modded 05' Vox AC30CC2 with Red fang and Wharfedale speakers. It has the real mid range vox sound, but can sound full when cranked. I've been using the top boost channel for rock and edgy sounds and the normal ch for country and clean sounds. When I need more overdrive I use my 82' TS9 or with A/B/Y use both ch's. Sound loud and thick then.
Check out my Youtube for more vids

Thanx guys.

Nothing was mic'd, just natural room ambience and lucky camera position. It was a fun night.

nice sound and playing too.

Can you tell a little more about the mod you've done to the AC30?...Got an AC30CC2 also and plan on swapping to Celestion Alnico blue...but dunnow precise if it will improve on the sound being the chicken picker I am.

The mods that I did were pretty simple. I don't have the schematic in front of me, so the actual part numbers aren't known. With the channels the way I have them modded the A/B/Y pedal is essential. I only use the tube screamer now when I want the dirtiest possible sound. Volume and knob wise, I run the pre's at 50% +/- a little for drive and cleanness with the brillance switch on. The Top boost tone is in a V shape, treble @ 40% and Bass @ 60%. No vibrato with 40-50% reverb(tone at 50%). Tone cut at 0 and MV is where I control my overall volume. I'm running 50ohm/Hot on my bias and 22uf on my filtering. Love the way it sounds when cranked.
  • Changed the V1's plate resistors from 100k to 220k ohm to vintage spec
  • Regular channel, removed the 220pf bright cap and replaced it with a fixed 68pf and the switch adds another 68pf for a combined capacitance or 136pf. Makes it not as harsh.
  • Top boost, I removed the treble bleeder cap on the volume pot all together, makes it thicker sounding.
  • JJ EL84's
  • V1-RCA 7025, V2-GE 12ax7, V3-GT12ax7R.........Before I had the V1 and V2 swapped, sounded of, now with the RCA in V1, it's killer.
  • I replaced the stock hardwire speaker cable with a jack and upgraded the ext, and int ext jacks to switchcraft. Easier for working and more durable.
  • Speakers are the Eminence Red Fang(Like Vox Blue) and Wharfedale(Like a Greenback)
  • Other mods that I haven't done yet are the reverb mods and vibrato speed mods. I don't use the vibrato much and reverb is too distant sounding. Everyone says to uprade to the accutronics pan and change out a few components. I'll do that in time.
  • Another mod that I haven't done and don't see it very dire is upgrading the XFMR's to mercury magnetics. To me they might help a little but what's in there is pretty beefy and I like the way it sounds. I'd have to A/B one with Mercury's and mine to judge completly.

Nice sound, very good playing and the amp sounds great. I'm copying and pasting the mods to share with an amp tech for my AC30cc2. It needs some attention.
