Alone Together (new Tele in action, jazz...kindof)

So while I wait for my Lollars to arrive I figured I'd record the stock pickups so I have a good comparison when I swap them out. I think the stock neck pickup (which is used here) does a really nice job - I can't wait to compare it to the replacements.

I would call this "jazz" but it doesn't swing per se so I'll just leave that up to interpretation.

Nicely done Paul.

Sounds great so I'll be curious to hear the difference the Lollars make.

Doesn't have to swing to be jazz!!! This is very nice, I like the harmonic stuff under the melody. Gives it a more "modern" sound. Do I spy an Eastman back behind you? I love my Eastman!

Thanks for the encouragement guys!

guitarua - yup that is my 805ce back there (which sadly is not getting play time since I got my Tele...), put a Kent Armstrong floating PAF on her and sounds really nice. Having an odd neck thing at the moment where I can't put anything lighter than 14's on her though. What kind of Eastman do you have?

Big Tony - How did you get the youtube link thing to work? I put the url in between the tags but didn't seem to work...

Tidepoolbay - I am teaching for a living right now, if you were in the area I'd be happy too. I think at some point I'd like to figure out how to do online webcam lessons too cause each year there are always a couple students who end up having to move and sometimes can't find another teacher to "click" with so to speak.

Regarding the pickups, yea they are definitely fine - I am really really impressed (particularly with the neck pickup) but there are a couple things I hope to improve with the upgrade. The G is a bit too hot and the D a bit too soft with D'Addario 10's and I am hoping that balance will be fixed. Also, at least from the clip I have heard, the lollars have a bit fatter sound with a touch more clarity which is a plus. Granted I don't *need* to change them but I am a chronic tinkerer...every guitar I have had since I started playing again I have worked on in some way, and this being my first solid body it was too hard to resist trying to do something with the electronics :)

Certainly will do! Picked a song where I have a pretty static arrangement so the comparison will be easy.

Hey paul_h, that's a gorgeous sound you have there. That's the sort of thing I aspire to. I can't be noisy in my house with sleeping kids and all, so quiet chord melody stuff is where I'm focusing my energy. Great stuff, really! I've posted about it before, but my new/old Fernandes thinline Tele has the same sort of gorgeous clarity, and Candy Apple Red!

Oh, to do the YouTube tags, just put the video ID (not the full URL) between the [YOUTUBE]'s.

So yours would be (YOUTUBE)sNvs0yxOd-k(/YOUTUBE). That one took me a few tries!
