Opinions needed on a song i'm working on

the song is "lets go dancing" i know its long, but i like em long. Its for a guitarist to study, so its by no means a final version (especially the vox). Just looking to hear what y'all think of it, the mix, my voice etc... So far, thats me on everything.

I like it !
Vocals are good, but Im listening for harmonic backing vocals either just on the chorus's or on both the verse and chorus.
Personally Id stick in some crash chord / distorted tube guitars on the chorus's to accentuate them.
I like the guitar rifs on the intro's . Really like the harminica !
All n all I'd say its great and keep at it !
nb- I was once privvy to seeing a guy who wrote " When I Miss You " covered by Leo Sayer back in 79, and youd be amased at how simple he made it seem to write a really emotional ballad.

Thanks! Yeah, i've been meaning to add some more "oomph" to the chorus and i've hopefuly got a female singer friend of mine coming in to do some backing vocals and harmonies. Thanks for the pointers, peace.

Really like this, it's nicely done.

I agree with previous that a bit of beefing up at here and there would kick it up a notch, for me, but then I am more into rockier end of things so probably biased toward some chunkyness in to it!

Like the outro too.

Going to listen to it again now.

Thanks, the more input the better. I too like the rockier side of things, its just hard to record rock stuff entirely by yourself at home, especially without a drummer, so i mostly record my alt country style stuff. I have tons of rock songs waiting for a band situation, which i am hoping posting these recordings and advertising on craigslist will bring about.

I have a drummer buddy with a studio that i use on my stuff but if you don't have the same situation I'll bet you could find someone online to do it for free or close to it. I know there are services where you could hire Chet McCracken or Omar Hakim but you probably don't need to go there financially. There may be some players here that could recommend their buddies.

Yeah, i've been trying to look into something like that. I am running protools 6.4 so it should be fairly easy to hook up with someone out there. If anyone knows anyone please chime in!

i like the song, it has potential... so does your singing. your singing sort of reminds me of gram parsons.

Some of your phrasing needs work.. changing the rhythm and speed of some words to fit in more with background rhythm.. but that will iron itself out if you rehearse it live lots. You have a nice tone to your voice but I sense a lack of confidence .. slightly hesitant or holding back a bit ... you shouldn't be.... sounds like you're maybe recording this in a room and don't want to the neighbours to hear... [ well I know I'm guilty of that

I think some percussion would add emphasis to the whole thing ( a cymbal here or there )... I wouldn't risk too heavy a guitar ruining the subtlety of the song... maybe put a bit of dirt on the riff in the chorus...

I think it's real close to being very good .. keep working at it even if you get a bit sick of it... it's impossible to be subjective on your own work...stuff I did I hated, then a year or two later realised it was actually pretty good.

I hear shades of Ryan Adams, Red House Painters, Neil Young and Wilco..

yeah, i have hard time recording at home... its kinda a pain, i worry about neighbors and roomates. And i have no drummer currently... it sux.
