Original Song - Result of TDPRI Collaboration

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++
I think I may have originally posted this in the wrong forum,
so copying it here. Apologies.

PREFACE

Well, it really isn’t much of a collaboration since Dan Armbruster did all the work.

BACKGROUND

If you want to skip this part and just hear the song, here is the download link:

Even though I grew up a lower middle class kid in New York City, I have always had a special interest in mining and in mining songs. As some of you might recall my musical “awakening” happened when I first heard the Jefferson Airplane perform Billy Edd Wheeler’s “High Flying Bird” in the Monterey Pop film.

Around the middle of last year I decided to write a song about the Sago Mine Disaster.

By December I had pretty much finished the song and have performed it a few times with various side musicians. And though it has received very nice audience reactions, my voice is “weak” (to put it mildly) and I was never fully satisfied with how the song sounded.

When I came across a post by StuH and realized that he was in the mining industry I thought he would be a “natural” to record the song. He kindly demurred and suggested I contact Dan (DaddyDex) and ask him. I promptly did so and lucky for me he (a) consented to record the song and (b) did a masterful (IMHO) job.

So without further ado, here is Dan’s recording of my song “Thirteen Men (The Sago Mine Disaster):”

Of course, comments are always welcome. However for any technical recording questions, you’ll have to ask Dan. I just write ‘em.

Thanks. - Mark

I am going to give this a bump. I don't want it to fall between the cracks as so easily happens in Twanger Central.

It manages an epic feel without getting heavy-handed, no easy task for this sort of song/performance. Nice job, gentlemen!
