"Tell Mama" Tele

My friend and I, took a crack at this old Savoy Brown classic, "Tell Mama".
He played bass, sang, and....uhh....errr....programed the drums. ( just a wee bit, to many beers, whilst programing the drum parts, was found to be the rhythmic culprit ) What the heck, we left it, as is..

I used my '52 RI Tele, for all the slide and rhythm parts. I bought her back in '96, and it's just the sweetest sounding guitar, for all types of music and tones. I ran her through a Blues Jr., and used a TS9 for the slide parts.
Fun song to play..!! If ya give it a listen, I thank ya...!!!

Wow, JV. Very nice job. Great slide work.
I give it a 10. (shades of American Bandstand)

Great job, JV . . . I love this song! My mid-seventies band used to do it and it always got a great bar-crowd reaction, in spite of not being familiar radio fodder . . . I know we didn't do it this good, though . . . your touch on the slide and those other Tele tones have this song NAILED. Just-right vocal, too.

As for the rhythmic "culprit", I wouldn't have changed it, either . . . sounds just like our drummer did about 1:30 AM . . .

Being a Savoy Brown fan to the extent of hiring them to play for a private affair in '02, y'all did a hell of a job there. Got a really sweet LP tone out of your Tele, too! What's a "TS9"? Someone here recently was looking for a Tab for that slide intro. Do you have one?

Thanks a lot, johnnytronics..!!!

River;
You hired, Savoy Brown..?? Now THAT's a party...!!! HA! HA!

TS9 is an Ibanez Tubescreamer. I used it by turning the drive to zero, and level turned up to about 3-4 o'clock. The Blues Jr. was dimed ( LOUD amp for 15watts..!!), and rolled back the tone knob on my Tele, about "half way-ish".

No I'm sorry, I don't have a tab for that song. If you tune your guitar to open A tuning, you'll see and hear, that those sllde phrases are right there in the "box" positions.
And thanks, for the kind words..!!!

I haven't heard that song in years! Great job!

Do you do requests?

How 'bout some old Foghat!

Edit: I just remembered that 2 or 3 members of Savoy Brown left the group to form Foghat! So in a sense, that was old Foghat!

Enjoyed the slide work!
