Fender Announces New "American Standard" Series Telecaster

FENDER® INTRODUCES THE NEW “AMERICAN STANDARD TELECASTER®” SERIES WITH DETAILED UPGRADES.

Jan 8, 2008 --(FMIC Release)--

Fender Musical Instruments Corporation announced "upgraded" American Standard Series Telecasters today. The upgrades are described as the first overall part-by-part detail improvement of the iconic instruments in eight years. Fender's Stratocaster, Precision Bass and Jazz Bass guitars are also receiving the series upgrades.

Not much else in the way of details have been provided except this one statement:

"Significant improvements to the electric guitars include a redesigned bridge, new bent-steel saddles with elongated string slots, a new neck and body finish, and a Fender-exclusive high-tech molded case. Similarly, the bass guitars feature a new neck and body finish, a Fender-exclusive high-tech molded case, lightweight tuners, height-leveled pole pieces, and the new HMV high-mass vintage bridge. And for the first time, Fender will be offering the traditional Precision Bass® in a five-string passive version, taking the classic platform to a new level."

We'll just have to wait until Winter NAMM to determine what these "new" upgrades really entail.

So does this mean that these new AM Standard Teles won't be available until winter 08?

Just saw a 2008 Am Std Strat in my local store last week. Don't know why the Teles wouldn't start arriving soon. The sooner the better
