Hi, i'm new, and i have a scratchplate problem.

yeah so i signed up on here cos i come on alot and have found some great info thats helped me out alot. Also i need a black scratchplate for me tele but it requires no pup screws. Im wondering if i get one with pup screws will this look stupid or will it effect the way th pup is held in. I've never opened this guitar before its fairly new so thats why im asking, cos i havent actually seen inside it yet.

Welcome to the forum!

Fender made early Teles with the pickups mounted to the body instead of to the pickguard, and I personally prefer that simpler look on most Teles.

What specific model, what year production, and what country of manufacture, is your Tele? How many frets, 21 or 22? How many screws holding the pickguard on it now, 5 or 8? Do you want a solid black single ply guard or a multi-ply, something like black/white/black?

I personally have a pickguard with the pickup screw holes, but have my neck pickup mounted to the body - that way, pickup height can easily be adjusted by sticking a mini screwdriver through the hole, but from a little distance (and esp. with a black pickguard), the holes won't be visible.

Hi mate, ive got a highway one '06, 70's series. Yeah i love it with no pup holes aswell. Usual 8 hole i would love 3 ply but im not fussed if it was 1 ply, tho ive heard some of the holes dont line up on the 1 ply...?

If you have the stock 22 fret neck on that highway one you describe, the overhang from that neck will be your #1 issue fooling with different pickguards.

I like the one ply, 5 screw hole pickguards on all my Teles, including Highway Ones. Sometimes you can slip the pickguard in and out with the strings off but the neck still attached, but it takes finesse.

ahh...do u mean wen i put it back on because of the overhang it could look dodgy..?
