1-11/16" nut & bigger profile ... need help guys.

I'm obviously the exception to the rule here, but my meat hooks have always had trouble with the 1-5/8" standard tele neck. Can anybody direct me to a Fender Tele with a wider neck & some beef to it (I know I might have to, but really, no REALLY don't want to do the warmoth thing - I'd much rather just buy factory off the shelf). Many thanks -

John

I'm almost certain all the Fender American Deluxe necks have a 1 11/16 nut width.

(be glad you don't play a Rickenbacker 360)

AFAIK the Highway 1 Texas Teles have slightly wider necks...

BTW, what's the reason why you don't want to go the Warmoth route? I have 2 of their necks with 1-3/4" nut width, and couldn't be happier...

While that is true...they sure don't have the Beefy backshape he is also seeking...I'm afraid you're going to have to go aftermarket, for what you want.

I feel your pain. My meat hooks only feel comfortable on a wider neck. Outside of the aftermarket, you don't have much options. The American Deluxes I've played didn't have a wider nut.

The regular Highway 1 Tele does indeed have a wider (1 11/16") nut. The neck feels great, one of my favorites. You might also want to consider a neck with a wide profile, such as Nocaster reissue. Ultimately, your best bet might be to get an after market neck.

The American Deluxe models have 1 11/16" nut width and what Fender calls a U-shape neck, it's noticably thicker than the "modern C-shape" of the American Standard models.

Yeah, mine is definitely chunkier than many other Strat/Tele model necks I've played.

I'm afraid you're in custom neck territory.

Fender necks fall in 2 general categories. 1 + 11/16ths and slim, or 1.65 ( called '1 + 5/8ths' but 1 + 5/8ths would be 1.625 ) and of various thickness.

You need and want more girth and more width, and I'm afraid the CS No-Caster is the closest thing but could be wider for you. 1.65 and 1 inch thickness the full length of the neck, with the most shoulder of any other readily available Fender guitar.

You could try the American Deluxe Ash (8502) but I don't find the U neck very large, and my hands are not that big.

No point in checking Warmoth webspecial, I (and others like minded) cleaned out most of the size you're looking for. Call Tommy Rosamond at USACG and order something you can really hang onto.

The G.E.Smith tele has a club-like neck with a fairly deep profile.
Pretty sweet looking too. Perhaps one of those necks would work for you. Other than that, you'll be looking at a custom neck.
I have big hands and the U contour on my 52RI feels pretty good to me, you must have some mighty large paws.

BTW...it's great to see another from Pennsyltucky. Welcome to the TDPRI!

The GE still doesn't have the 1 11/16 Nut width, like he wants...if you have to get an aftermarket one...might as well spring for an 1 3/4 @ the nut...bet you'll love it.
