Tele ownership protocol

Well, I'm new to tele ownership and the forum, and I've been reading and cheerfully joining in the discussion, but I need to know one thing:

The (used) tele body I ordered arrived today, making me officially an owner (I think), so when is the correct time to post pics? Do I do it now, like the proud parent who shows off the baby while it's still wrinkled and ugly, or after I get some work done to it?

Well, I hope this works.....

The body looks better in a pic than in real life, but a little refinishing should take care of that. Having browsed the net and read through the forum, here's the current plan:

Reverse Strat neck, maple/rosewood w/skunk stripe (I already had it)
Black pickguard
Black control panel/knobs
Black bridge w/compensated brass saddles
Keystone pickups

I am not intending to use the middle pickup rout. I want to start with a traditional-sounding tele because I already have humbucker and 3-pickup guitars. But don't think I didn't pay attention to those "hidden pickup" threads. Hmmm......

By the way, I'm not sold on the black pickguard thing. I had also thought tortoiseshell, because that's what the binding is. But would the top look too busy what with the grain and all? Suggestions are not only welcome but invited.

Especially since I am an actor with a fondness for Commedia Dell'Arte..... and I didn't even think of that!

Welcome to the forum, Dan! Lots of good info here. Pics are always welcome. Sounds like a real beauty when you're done. How much does the body weigh, empty?
Beautiful quilt. You can always reshape that S- style headstock. I even like the color and I'm not usually that fond of yellow anything.... (superfluous info follows ) except fresh crooked neck squash.

Good luck with the refin and reassembly.

I think anything other than a solid color pickguard would be wrong. I'm suprised someone would put tortoise binding on such a body.

Are you going to stick with the yellow? You should be able to tell if the quilted top is veneer or thicker. If it's thicker you could refinish it in the color of your choice.

See, that's the thing. It's not as yellow in real life, it's darker. And that wasn't a flash picture. Maybe it's just my incipient colour-blindness. And if I had my druthers, it would not be torty bound. But I just wanted a cheap body to try my hand at teles, and this was purtier than a plank. The finish is of fairly amateurish quality, so I will be stripping and re-doing it. We'll see what it looks like then. And the neck is pretty nicely finished, so I don't think I'll risk reshaping it, much as I'd like to.

I was wondering that too, but the battery is dead in my cheapo scale, and since my weight hasn't changed in 20 years, I'd rather buy a cup of coffee (or guitar parts) than a new one. I'll post it if I happen to figure it out!

I'm gettin' smart in my old age; according to the cardboard box it came in, with bubble wrap, the USPS weighed it in at 5 lbs. 9 oz. Does that sound reasonable? I never worried much about guitar weight before. Though I should have, give my two Japanese guitars.

My first thought too, but there's that darned extra rout. Maybe when I get another, I'll add a 3rd pickup to this one and switch to a clear pg. (Already talking about my next one?!? Bad sign......)
