I don't even think you need to swap parts. With 16 amp voicings, 3 pup positions, and tone and volume knobs, there are a lot of options. There are three or four voicings on the amp plus a clean channel I think and they all sound pretty good. Try the neck pup.

I think I might do some more shopping. I think I might go with a thinline. I know I am used to acoustics but damn this thing is heavy. I think also due to the fact that I am used to acoustics that I may like the rosewood neck better than the maple. Yu have to love guitars. :)

First, try about six different Les Paul's. Then pick up a Tele.

Thinking I wanted to try a thinline I picked up a Squire thinline last night. Yes that is right, another guitar. I got it for $270 out the door. It is black. So I brought it home to compare to the MIM std. I almost got this guitar in the first place because I thought it sounded good in the store but ultimately got the std. So now I have both at home to compare for a few days. I really only plan on keeping one. I played the thinline first and I have to say it sounds really good. It has a raw sounds compared to the std, thinner though. I like the short scale, 7.5" radius neck, rosewood fretboard, and the fact that it is lighter. But once I played the std again I thought the std sounded fuller, and more rounded, just better really. I know it is hard to describe this but I hope you know what I mean. I think the squire is really put together well. The fit and finish is comparable to the std. I almost want to say it just comes down to the pick ups but I dont know enough about electric guitars. Either way the bottom line is that they are both fun.

I tried a 69 sunburst recently. Beautiful guitar!

I like the '69 thinline but to be honest I dont really want to spend any more than I have for the std. That is plenty of guitar for me and really I am happy with it. I will give the comparison a few more days, maybe the full 30 that GC gives.

I was asking about the American Deluxe in another thread. Well I went ahead and did it. I brought back the MIM std and walked out with a brand new, 3 color sunburst, maple neck, American Deluxe Telecaster. It is beautiful. There really is nothing wrong with the MIM std but this deluxe is just unreal. It may be the best looking guitar I have ever seen. The sound is just so smooth. What great tone!! I just love it. I dont think I have ever been this excited about a guitar purchase. Of course I cant find my camera but as soon as I do I will post some pics. Here is the link to Fender:

Once again thanks to everyone for all of the information I have received.

Wow that's a jump! Nice fiddle! I started with an MIM Strat and Epi Dot three years ago when I started playing again. Have traded up since then to a AV52RI Tele. Probably would have saved a lot of expense just buying it back then! Congrats!

Thank you. In the back of my mind I figured buying this would actually save me money. Maybe even keep me away from the guitar shop for a while.

Yes they should be a goodie bag (case candy) that also includes a cable and strap. Also should come with a Fender plastic hard case.

GC has a tendency to lose or mix up those things.

Fancy!

I got the goodie bag with wrenches, polish clothe, and manuals. It also came with a strap, and amp cable. I really like the case it comes with. I know on some sites it says it is strap lock ready, which it is, but I am not sure it actually comes with the locks themselves, the part that goes on the strap. That picture is the one except that mine has a maple neck. It is sweeeeet!

I bet they gave you the goodies from an American Standard instead of the Deluxe. Straplocks come as a set.

That discussion you are referring only proved that there is no resolution to the argument. You're actually in danger of creating another flame war by speaking in such assuming and condescendingly absolute terms, in an environment where a large percentage of the members disagree with you. I will not question your opinions, but I do question your motives for entering the realm of the endlessly whipped horse.... If the words are so dreaded, what on earth possessed you type them?
