Finaly gotten me a Baja!
I´m a happy man!
Been searching "everywhere" to avoid a 9.5 lbs+ boatanchor. And now i got it: ![]() This here "NOS" 2006 Baja weighs a managable 7.05 lbs (3.2 kg), actually the same weight as my esquired Classic 50´s. I love this Baja. To me it´s strongest asset is the neck - fatter than my classic 50 and it gives a more stable feeling to the guitar. The neck pickup was too strong and bassy, factory-set as it was very close to the strings. Had to lower it quite a bit to balance the bridge pup. The S1-system is ok, fun to play around with. I imagine the strat-like out of phase sounds could do well paired with an old germanium fuzz... The 4th position neck and bridge in series sounds great - no dull humbucker, fat but quite Tele-sounding. Like many have said before, there´s no real need to mod. However I will eventually change to gotoh tuners, a better jackcup and a livelier bridge pup with a little "clank". Cheers, Last edited by ol man; February 12th, 2008 at 07:28 AM. |
