telecaster deluxe blackout - opinions

Hi guys
I already own, amongst other electric guitars, a 50th anniversary & a 72 Thinline. I'll keep buying different incarnations of the tele for sure & soon, namely the Esquire & a 72 deluxe.
I've narrowed it down to two choices for my next buy though, a standard hss strat - http://www.fender.com/products//sear...tno=0134702332 - OR a Telecaster deluxe blackout - http://www.fender.com/products//sear...tno=0135032306 - I'd like to know what telecaster experts think of the Blackout. I've seen only positive comments on playability/sound. However, I'd like to know how it compares to other teles; I'm sure those 3 PU change the sound dynamics quite a bit. I know the neck feel and playability will suit me and I think it looks great; it's the sound that intrigues me. Now I really want to buy a strat soon after (or before) as it's a must for me for different reasons. I'm just scared the Blackout has too much of a strat sound and I like my my guitars to be unique on every aspect. I'll most probably order it and not try it out beforehand so I'm counting on you guys.
thanks

I got really frustrated by my old Nashville telecaster as it didnt seem to be 100% of anything. It was not quite twangie enough and not quite quacky enough. It seemed the combination just compromised the ideas of the two guitars, creating less out of more. If you plan on getting a stratocaster, grab the most teleriffic guitar you can and just swap with your moods.

If you can only have one...its a passable option. That said, this model is not the Nashville..it may sound amazing.

Thanks webb
As it turns out, I innocently walked in a music store 1hr ago to buy strings and walked out with a black G&L legacy hb. She got me good.

So that pretty much settles it right there.
I guess I might go for the Esquire next... but I'm still intrigued by the deluxe blackout so if somebody tries it out sometime, I'd like to know how it performs.
thanks

I really like my db tele. I played some Nashvilles too but for me, this was the sound. Maybe it's the addition of the middle tele pu. I can't really compare it to other tele's as it's my first one. I use it in a church band where we play a wide variety of songs. Everything from country to alternative. I've always been a fan of the tele twang and and happily found it with this guitar along with a variety of other sounds with the 3 pu's and 5 way switching. Reading some older thread's noticed that some blackout owners have changed the tuners and bridge. Haven't done any surgery yet, but as a tele-newbie, I am intrigued by everyone's mods I see on this site. The only switching change I'd consider making would be to add a bridge/neck position. The neck feel's great. Recently bought a hardshell case to replace the gig bag.

Yep, just stumbled upon a couple threads on it too; they answered most of the questions I had.
I just hope I find one that I can try out in Quebec city or Montreal.
thanks
