Igor...I thnk you're correct. The "airier" sound of a typical Strat comes from the cored-out body and the springs. But, I think the
"quack" is more a function of the pcikup wiring. My Nashville Tele quacks in the 2 & 4 switch stops just like my Strat does. But it's a "woodier" tone, without the springy-tone (which I'm not all that fond of, either).
