'99 MIM tele body.... was it alder???

Were they made of alder in '99??? ....or the cheaper stuff? Figured someone here would know.

And I think the sunburst was an ash cap on those, too.

When I was shopping for teles in late 99 they were poplar.

At some point after that, a matter of a few years I think, they switched to alder.

According to Fender's "Frontline Player's Guide" winter '99, the MIM Standard Tele had a poplar body.
