famous tele players? I want a list

in one of these recent threads, somebody rattled off a nice long list of famous telecaster players

danny and roy something (just kidding, gatton and buchanan, I know) and a whole bunch of others...(james burton or something?)

could somebody do this for me? I wanna do a massive tele listening spree with kazaa lite to prime me for my first tele purchase. (looking for a cheap ash-bodied tele, blonde or vintage white)

I'm making a tele for christmas.

what are the best pickups for the syd barrett tele sound? I think he played a 60's ash Esquire (rosewood)...somebody said a van zandt neck pu was almost identical to a 60s fender pickup in another thread...how about the bridge pickup?

Some that spring to mind:

Keef.
GE Smith (I bought a tele because I thought he looked cool on Saturday Night Live).
Springsteen.
Muddy Waters.
Albert Collins.
Robbie Robertson (in the 60s).

Here's your list: Tele 101 - Recommended recordings

This is from the "Bridge Pickup Links" near the top of the main page. For some reason, nobody ever looks at it. -- CS

You can find a pic in Roy's autobio "My Life in Spite of Myself". There is a photo of Roy from 1951 or so with his nocaster. He bought it with money won in a banjo contest and took it on his first trip to Nashville to play the Opry. So he's officially on the list... and one of my all time favorites.

There's a lot of great names listed here. We'll certainly want to put Reggie Young on the list; session player extraordinaire and arguably one of the most recorded guitarists in history.
