So i have some of this wood........
I have some of this wood from our house (100+ years old), mostly rough cut 2x4 beams (probably pine). I dont have the wood working tools or quite frankly the time to even consider the building of a body. Anyone of you so inclined to take on a challange for me? I think it would be cool to have a guitar made from my house, LOL. I know its improper to talk about price on a fourm so PM me if your interested. I can fed ex the wood to you.

It varies depending on the pieces i look at---in general, i have a piece that is 2 3/8 x3 5/8 ---approx 6' long and there is access to 3 3/4 x 3 3/4 pieces as well (approx 6' long also). some of it is in between those measurements--there were no standards back then. I just remodeled a section of the house that had a beam that still had bark on it. All of this still needs to come out of the house, but is basically readily available.
I had some pieces that i put in the burning pile before i thought of this idea---doh!!!! So now there is a bit of a waiting game for me to get the stuff out of the house first. I also have a couple hunks from my neighbours house thats basically the same age--but id rather use the stuff from my house---sedimental reasons ya know. I want to maintain all the nail holes and what not character of the wood. |

It should make for a lovely project. A friend of mine made a strat body from the floorboards of a stage where we used to gig that was sadly being refurbished in the late 80's. It made a beautiful giutar and it was certainly a talking point.
