Mighty Mite vs the rest
I'm looking to get a rosewood neck for my 'Slimecaster', and I'm wondering if I should just get the Mighty mite replacement neck, or spend a bit more to get one custom made from Musikraft.etc. Although in the case of Musikraft, I'll have to pay more to get the neck finished...What about the necks from WD Music, anybody have any experience with them? Do necks made by Mighty Mite and those supplied/made by WD Music came properly set up to be played on right away? How do they compare to my stock MIM neck?

I have a Mighty Mite Strat neck I put on a project guitar. It seems to be pretty much identical to a MIM Fender neck. Nice wood, good frets and it is stable. The nut had to go....it was a cheapo white plastic thing cut wrong.
I also have a Tele neck from Allparts. It's one of my favorite necks, feels just like a real Fender neck. And then I have a custom made neck from USACG that is my favorite of all. 12" radius birdseye maple with Gibson sized frets. It arrived in perfect playing condition with good fret dressing and finish sanding. I applied the wipe on poly and it looks great. All three necks bolted right up to Fender bodies with no problems. The Mighty Mite was the cheapest at $90 off a Ebay. The Allparts neck was about $130 if I remember correctly. The USACG neck was $200 and worth every penny. |
