GhS Burnished Nickel..anybody?
Hi all,
I changed my Telecater '52 reissue made last year for the first time. I put put Ernie Ball Classic Pure Nickel Slinky's on and it totally killed my tone ( it couldn't roll it on the river). Nice feeling strings though I add. I'm going back to 10's no doubt, so I ordered a pack of GHS Burnished Nickel 10's. They are supposed to bend easier, if they don't do it, should I try John Pearse eay bend 10?????? Thanks, freddie |

+1 on d'addario 10's (sometimes 9's). i've used the same set since the early 90's, I think. I try other stuff occasionally but always go back to the d'addario set.
i've noticed that callaham endorses/sells the ghs burnished nickel set, but i have no idea why. maybe because it's "more vintage-y"? |

I, too, go with the XL110's.
But I've tried the GHS Burnished Nickel strings and thought they were pretty good. I can't really contrive any really good wine tasting adjectives to describe their sound and qualities. I just know that I like them about as well as the d'addario's. They seem a little hard to find except through the online merchants.

These are no frills

I love the Burnished nickel, very reasonably priced and great tone with bendability. We spend thousands trying to get vintage sounding bridges, pickups, necks and bodies. Why not invest in strings that are produced like strings were if you want a vintage tone?

I use GHS burnished nickel 10's on most of my electrics. Provide a nice warmer sound. Can't find them anymore in the stores by me. So, I order them from MF.
