Tele w/Bigsby Case

Hello to all!

First of all, this is my first post. I have done a lot of browsing and found a lot of useful and interesting posts and topics. Great site!

I have a late model American Standard Tele. I added a bigsby. I believe it is the B50 model. The hardshell case that came with the guitar no longer closes. The Bigsby hits the door. I emailed the person on Ebay I purchased the Bigsby from and he says that he has not had any issues with cases being too small after the Bigsby is installed. Seems odd to me that I would be the first person to have this problem, but who knows.

I am aware there is a Japanese Tele with a Bigsy (or Bigsby type tremelo bar). Does anyone know if the hardshell case for that guitar is modified or custom? I am using a gigbag now, but don't really feel comfortable with the amount of protection you get with those.

Thanks,
Jim

I have a 1971 Tele with factory Bigsby. When I bought it the owner (original) said the case that came with it was when he purchased with the guitar, and it is just the standard black tolex case. I spin the Bisby handle clockwise about 220 degrees. In that position the handle is almost flush with the rest of the assembly. Case closes just fine (well...kinda). I do leave the case latch closest to the Bigsby undone at that end. Traveled all over with it like that and never had a problem.

Sorry...don't have a better pic.

Yeah - just spin that trem arm around and it should fit fine in just about any case.

Gotta love Bigsby Teles....I do what the other guys do, turn the handle around. The latch latches, but the lid isn't QUITE as closed as it was before the Bigsby, but that's ok, right?

No problem with the Fender plastic shaped cases. The plastic cases are lined with styrofoam. You can always crush the styrofoam to make things fit.
