Former Hag picker Clint Strong is teaching at Lamb Music in Ft. Worth, he's not a tele guy but he's an amazing player with alot to share.
Steve Rhian is in Waxahachie, he's a good teacher and a fine player, he's been Deryl Dodd's tele player for 10 or so years. If you'd like his number, pm me. Good Luck John

I also play several open blues jams around the Metroplex. A common one that I play on Friday nights is The Top Shelf in Richardson. Last week, I played at Nate's Seafood in Addison. I used to play at The Hole In The Wall and The Cottage. None of these are paying gigs for me. Last year, I did get paid to play guitar, mandolin and Hammond on every track of an album. Then there was the time I hired out my 24 track studio. I also got a rare paid gig to sit in on a smooth jazz gig for a private party at a very ritzy North Dallas resturant. That was a BLAST, even though I had no clue of what I was doing - for REAL. But the band leader liked me and gave me an extra tip. Life is good lately. I am toying with some concepts for a band. There was a recent post where local members talked about forming a band. Just this week, a friend that has asked me to join his band 8 times, has finally convinced me to give it a go with his band. It is not supposed to be permanant (as far as I am concerned). But he has a gig scheduled in Arkansas on March 8th and he despirately wants me to rehearse with their band and join them for the ARK gig. Where it goes from there, is anybody's guess. I play mostly blues style. But this thread caught my attention because I have been wanting to expand my (non-existant) twang picking techniques for a long time. The open jam nights are a fairly good way to network with folks and have fun in the process. Let me know if you want to meet up sometime. This Friday, I will be playing P&W for a women's shelter that I do once a month. Afterwards, I will probably go to The Top Shelf. As far as other members working gigs, there are some like Terry Downs, and a few others out towards Fort Worth way. But many of us members are just enjoying our hobby. |

There is a set house band at Cowboys who has this 23 year old kid that is just hellish on the guitar. He plays mostly teles and is amazing. I think his name is Clay Willis. I saw him at the Arlington Guitar show trying out a boss pedal and he was NAILING the claw.

Hi DFW Guys,
If you are looking to meet some other players. Check out the North Texas Guitar Club. They meet in Plano twice a month. One meeting is electric, the other is acoustic. Check out the forum for times and dates. www.northtxguitarclub.com
