**New Telecaster Build Started**

No pictures or details at this time but it will be the most unique Telecaster build yet posted on the TDPRI ............... or it will be a complete distaster

everything i've seen you do has been in good taste (no pun intended). can't wait to see what you're up to.

i like the idea -- if it's moldy and stinks, it's sure-fire vintage!

This project is moving along. However yesterday a little snafu brought progress to a stop. Hope to correct that today and get things moving along.

Here's the rough cut body. This is the first body I've cut with my new Timber Wolf 3 TPI bandsaw blade. I seemed to have more control and was able to cut very close to the line.

......

Here I'm routing the neck pocket after having routed the pickup cavities, control cavities and body shape.

......

In a few days I hope to post pictures which will make the uniqueness of this project clear.

What's the SNAFU that brought things to a halt?

The SNAFU ............ as I have mentioned in other threads, I like to take shallow depth cuts when routing. Yesterday I was doing some template routing on the router table and set the depth for a shallow cut.....too shallow. Didn't notice that the bearing on the bit wasn't above the surface of the router table. The cutter cut into the template and beyond the intended area on the workpiece. Now I'm repairing the template and patching the workpiece.

Glad to hear I am not the only one that has done that.

I am hoping the singular nature of this project is not, well.....

You haven't used the word guitar to describe it.

I'm just hoping it is a guitar, that's all.

Jack, is that maple we are looking at?

I like you idea for the neck pocket template

The one thing I find with my templates(rons),because they dont hang over the front edge of the pocket, you have to be very careful with the router so it doesn't tip forward, making the front of the pocket deeper than the back.Next set of working templates I make I will fix that

Another build thread! Awesome!
Is the body 1.5 inches? It looks a bit slimmer...but maybe it's just my eyes...

I haven't used "guitar" but I did say this. "....it will be the most unique Telecaster build yet posted on the TDPRI". Yes ... it is a guitar and yes it is maple.

The Porter-Cable has been working overtime today. I have an estimated body weight of a little over 5 lbs. Whoops......... have I given it away?

Lostheart ............. uhhhh.......... no comment.

Thank God it is a guitar. I started thinking 'what if it is a banjo?' but I was afraid to ask. Now the 'tic' is going away. Thanks, Jack.

Work is progressing although design changes, a new material learning curve, uniqueness of the design and several operator errors at the router table have slowed the process. This has resulted in much time consuming patch work. I hope to begin painting tomorrow. I will post pictures of the finished guitar followed by construction photos.

Stay tuned.
