Could it be the son of Ol Piney??
Sure looks like the same grain and wood!
Exemplar: Unknown ![]() In fact I held up Piney and it is identical in many ways except the trem rout. Exemplar: Known ![]() The Unknown body came from Marty as did Ol Piney Known. Marty told me about it back when I bought Piney and the sister that became Pine burst. Said the guy might be interested in selling. At the time I was looking for a trem routed Tele. There was never a discussion of it being a relative of Piney cause hell Piney really wasn't even a guitar then. What do you guys think? Marty seems to agree it could be based on the pic. Hard to believe but if it's true WOW! |

You're the forensics guy...but there are some things that I see that have me convinced.
Beautiful wood!

Wow ................ The similarity of the grain pattern is uncanny. If these are one piece bodies with vertical end grain I'd say the two pieces were once one and adjacent to one another.

Martino,
I don't have any other pictures yet. This is all in the "Check is in the mail" stage so it may be a week or so before I have the actual body here. I was talking to the guy that owns it over a year ago. And there were no pics then. Just email back n forth trying to come to a price since it is roughed out and no real sanding yet. I had completely forgoten about it till the other day. I had this feeling like "What if" that body is from the same batch as Piney?? I had a bit of a moment there thinking I could have let it slip through my fingers since I had not followed up in months. I had forgot the guys email so I asked Marty again and he gave it to me. Turns out this person is an old pal of Marty's from his luthier school. I asked Marty about the possibility and he wasn't sure if it was the same? He couldn't recall until I sent the picture that his buddy sent me. So I emailed him and he still had it. That was a good sign. We talked and I said I wanted it no matter what for the trem rout. But could you please send a pic? Well I was convinced when I saw the picture that it sure looked like it was indeed. So as soon as I get it I will post some side by sides. I am going to be taking Piney apart to wax it up for the NAMM show. Pretty cool and yes Tedecaster I am going to go for the Joel Terry type Tele Fuzzy made. Vintage Strat trem. Got a few cool projects in the works but man the snow! Won't be any painting here for a while. |

Here is my back yard where many a Tele body has been hung on the clothesline for paint and bug collisions. Doubtful it will see any action until spring. ![]() Lottery hmmmmmmmm............... I guess if I could drag my butt out into this 10 below weather. A trip to the local mom and pop might be in order? Quote:
Here are a few more interesting projects I am in the process of making. All of these body's were made by guitarbuilder or Pine-Mart as Marty is known in these parts. Some very nicely grained and skillfully crafted Pine. First up is the Pine Esquire. Not sure what color or what finish (if any) this one will get but I just bought a Baritone maple vintage finished neck off Ebay which should be arriving any day. I am thinking that neck may just have to go on this body with a simple Howard's finish?? ![]() continued................. |

And now for a very special design and rare I might add.
A Pine Texacaster!! [Thanks InSlide for the imspiration on this one] ![]() Here is a pic of InSlide's Texacaster: ![]() Going to send this one out to be finished pro and have a pickguard cut properly etc. I am thinking Mr. Ron Kirn? What do you say brother Kirn? This one will be constructed in a very interesting fashion. Glendale Bridge and saddles of course. Keystone's in all three positions possibly. At least certainly in the bridge but I also have two creme Strat keystones here looking for a new home. Bill has the new keystones for Tele coming out in a creme vintage color so this could be interesting. Now to figure out the paint scheme for those style pickups. Hmmmmmmmmm and of course the grain is stunning on this so it will have to either be a burst or trans I think. And last a hard tail Strat in Pine. ![]() I am thinking vintage Butterscotch on this one. So if spring ever gets here I will be once again a man with a mission. By the way the magazine "Interview" you see on the table has a Ralph Lauren interview which my forensic expertise rendered intelligible due to some very bad recording device. Saving the day and the interview it was published on time and as scheduled. See my job isn't always about murder and mayhem! |

Should come out sounding great. If you can get your hands on the body, go for it. |

Pete, vintage 6 screw Callaham was my thought exactly.
I am not sure what I will use for pups just yet. Bill has been talking about a certain one that he is working on that has me very intrigued. Well I have plenty of snow here for us all guys! And it is VERY chilly out there. |

Are you kids sure those bodies aren't some sort of photo-flame type jobs?

Taipan (Vince) made me this beautiful control plate out of brushed stainless. He also made a matching neck plate to go with it. Great job and thank you Taipan!
