Nice birdseye on that neck.

What're those Pigtail wrap bridges made of? Does he give you a choice?

Just kind of curious because I didn't like what switching from a zinc tailoiece to a Gotoh aluminum tailpiece did to the sound of my '82 LP.

I've heard good things about Pigtail hardware, but I'm a bit nervous about using aluminum right now.

The Pigtail is aluminum, just like the originals. I think there are all kinds of aluminum, and varying degrees of hardness. This appears to be a very high quality piece of hardware, and I have had aluminum wraparound bridges in the past which were excellent. The only thing I'm squeamish about is the price. Now that I've held it in hand, I think it is justified. We'll know about the tone very soon- I'm already thinking about buying one for a personal build.

I'll be interested to hear what you think of their tone. Anything lined up to use one on a solid body?

They aren't cheap, but TonePros has a wrap bridge that costs over $100!

I've been kicking around the idea of a used parts Tele, using mostly used parts. One of the parts I had in mind was a Jr. style compensated bridge from a '62 Epi Melody Maker. If I decide to go with a new one (shiny!) it'll only cost about $20. I kind of like the idea of a very solid bridge, even if it can't do perfect intonation.

Pete, my cost on this bridge was about $135. Figure $90 for the bridge + 36.50 for the studs & bushings, plus shipping.. It had better be great. It looks great, fits perfectly- I haven't yet played it.

Stewmac doesn't mention that what they sell doesn't include studs & bushings!

http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges,...nd_Bridge.html

That seems a bit odd. I'd be pissed if I ordered one expecting them to be included.

If you read their "Details" section, they specify Tone Pros studs, and stated that the studs aren't included. I didn't use Stew Mac anyhow, I called and talked directly with Steve Rowen, the guy who makes them. He's a good guy, and gave me all the information I asked for- and then some..

I usually try to avoid Stewmac. They've done stuff like sell me Tophat Tele switch knobs, that're made for their Japanese Tele switches, so they don't fit CRL or Oak switches.

I try to get things from Specialty Guitars if I can, and that kind of thing never happens.

I used to have the Pigtail homepage bookmarked.

Ahhh..... here it is (I think) http://www.pigtailmusic.com/

I had to search with "Pigtail Steve Rowen homepage"

Gotta add the secret words "Steve Rowen" to make it work.

Well.. After all the final tweaking- I finally did a video this morning. This is a rare bird. I'll post a link as soon as it gets uploaded- probably in a day or so. I'm very happy with the outcome of this project. It was a challenging build, interesting, and the final guitar is really something. Wow.

Here's the second vid.. the first one needs to be reduced in size. We'll get it working as soon as possible.

Be sure to listen with ear buds or a decent speaker system.. Laptop speakers kill the tone.

Sounds wonderful. Those HB's don't need their other coils!

[I never thought I'd hear myself say that...]

What amp's that through?
