For fuzzy....the inside of my 1988 Am. Std.

A while back I had the kind help of members here determine that my first tele (s/n from 1983) was actually an American Std. tele from 1988. At that time I took the guitar apart and posted some pics of the neck, neck pocket etc etc. Fuzzy provided some good info and since he is the master around here, he asked if I could post some shots of the inside of the electronic end of the guitar. Here ya go fuzzy, or as you would say " her yaw goo" (at least I think that's fuzzy-speak) One question........I noticed that there is a wire (ground) that doesn't seem to be attached to anything! Did I pull this off when removing the bridge? Where does it go? Thanks!!

...Thanx fer that. It looks purdy standard and that wire may haff been soldered tew the bridge or stuck unner a screw. I think that iss because that bridge mite knott haff a metal plate backing (I kant tell) from here.

...Thanx again fer the pix. I knead tew fetch an American Standard cause its been a long time cents I werked on won (12 years) and whence I did I took all that stuff out and wired it 70s(and put a metal plate onna back of the P/U). Watt a difference.

the bridge should be screwed on so that the ground wire is pinned between the bridge plate and the body. This provides electrical contact between the ground wire and the bridge.

true. my american tele is from 2003, but it has the same wire going through a channel from the pickup cavity to under the bridge plate itself. it just sits there between the plate and the body, unattached in any way but still making contact.

Your controls all appear correct for that year...which had the TBX Tone circuit..you can do a search on that, on what made it unique...later replaced by the Delta tone on newer models.
