How is the MIJ Paisley finish applied? Is it wallpaper or paint? It's a little too pink for me. Would it be possible to "blend" the pink into a darker color on the sides? Like the Crook paisley that was shown on here recently.

It's often been referred to as wallpaper. It's wallpaper, gift wrap or some kind of paper that's glued to the body's front and back and clear coated after a burst is put around the edges.
Someone posted a picture of a Crook Blue Floral Telecaster a while back. The pattern was the same design as on a Fender but it didn't have the silver background. Looked as if the pattern on a Fender was copied and printed on plain papper.
