I aslo wonder...
about the sound of these relative to other current cables. I haven't used one of these since the 60's!! Anyone actually used one of these?

I've heard that coil cables are usually more noisy, though some of the modern day ones may have some shielding or something to take care of that. I like how they look, but won't buy them because I fear they'll be like a phone cord where eventually they just get kinky and twisted beyond straightening them out and then I'd have to buy more cables....

Why not use the 90 degree end on the Amp ?...it's a lot less strain on the input jack...especially if it's a Late Model something, w/ those Plastic input jacks ?

I bought a Fender coiled cord last year, but a different model with metal ends and a see-through blue jacket. It looked cool with my Agave Blue tele. The problem was the plug wasn't long enough to make contact with the jack, and the RA plug was too big to fit on my Boogie's input jack without blocking the footswitch jack.
I gave it to my father to use with his Agave Blue Jazz Bass, and he uses it all the time. It's dead quiet, too. No noise, and it doesn't get kinky like a phone cord. He pulls it out, works perfectly. They're fantastic for crowded stages. Whenever I see one, it makes me think of all of the old pics of Hendrix. |
