Well, it's not my only guitar, but it's the only one I've played since I got it. My #1 Tele has divots up to about the 6th fret and I don't have enough for a new neck, so it don't get much love...

So not one "real men" here? Lots of love for the Eqsuires, but nobody wants to be tied down to one pickup for their only guitar? Real men use more than one pickup.

Pickups aren't women...POLYGAMY IS LEGAL! ;)

Old Warhorse

This is my old warhorse. Used it exclusively on many a gig.

An Esquire through a great amp that's really cookin' is one of life's great pleasures.

Sorry Tele friends, I just can't fall in love with my MIM Esquire. It plays very well, no issues at all there, but I can't make that one Tele pickup versatile.

I have 19 electric guitars and a standout tonewise recently is my '04 Melody Maker - single P-90, vol & tone. I can do anything with that Melody Maker. It is unbelievably versatile.

Since I love Teles, I figured that an Esquire would give me that amazing versatility that the Melody Maker does, only Tele style.

Not even close. For single pickup guitars the Melody Maker steals the show!

Sorry Tele guys, I love Teles too, but my Esquire leaves a lot to be desired and has little chance of ever becoming my main guitar.

I'll be using a Seymour Duncan BG-1400 Lead Stack aka. Pearly Gates Esquire p'up. If only it would get here...sigh.

I don't know about real men but out of my guitars it'll be my old favourite this Sunday for my first gig since my last band suddenly split in July. I don't know what it is but I can always go back to the Esquire....

I had an Epiphone LP Junior recently and I found the same thing (after I upgraded the awful stock pickup). But I can't use a P90 guitar at our gigs due to the hum and I couldn't find a decent noiseless p90 so I sold it.

My Esquire has a Dimarzio Virtual Vintage tele noiseless pickup in it and it's excellent...but I still can't get the same versatility as the Junior since the tone control just turns the Esquire to mud. That didn't happen on the Junior.
But I might try a different value tone pot (500k or 1meg, not sure yet) and see if that helps.

My only tele style guitar is a Esquire and I love it. I have a couple of strats, but I've been playing the Esquire the most lately.
