What's Your Favorite Amp With Your Tele - Marriages Made In Heaven

What amp gives you that ultimate twang, zip, and thrill with your favorite tele?

I tend toward smaller, lower wattage amps, with the volume on 5 or so...if I need more volume, I just mic 'em thru a PA system...Love that thin twangy tone.

My favorite is my old USA made Hohner 120

I play through my Pro Junior and My VooDoo Rocket, and I like both of them a lot. However, I played through a Marshall combo of some sort a couple of weeks ago, and what a nice sounding amp.

My Tone King Comet 40B and Juke 1210 do very different things, but both sound excellent with my teles (and ES-330 too!)

My PV Classic 30 head plugged into my Carvin tweed 212 cab with one Celestion Vintage 30 and one Eminence Texas Heat. There is something about it. My '65 Twin Reverb RI has been collecting dust since I bought the PV.

Fender Red Knob ('80s) Dual Showman Head running through a Marshall 1960A Quad.

An alternative is a Marshall 30th Anniversary 6100LM Head with the quad....

I think teles & twins were born to be together. My personal favourite is a '70s Pro Reverb. Lighter than a Twin, basically same characteristics, and less volume to deal with.

Lower budget than some others here, but I'm sure that the Classic 30 was made for the Aerodyne Tele.

Either my Peavey VTM 60 head or my 5150 combo, plugged into one of my Peavey Classic 412es cabs and turned up over half way. There's just a certain feel you get when cranking a 50-60 watt amp through a 412.

"But Merlin, doesn't the 5150 have too much gain for a Tele?" Well, it does have knobs and you can turn it down...

And, yes Virginia, it does a very good Clean.
