finally started my first build...
this will be a a long build as I do not have much time to build...
however it all started with this: a piece of a fir tree blown away by a storm. it was in my fathers farm, well protected, for at least 30 years... reading all your building threads I thought "lets have a closer look" and the decision was - a partscaster my dear friend and band mate Christoph has all the wood working tools and machines, so today we started the idea of a one piece body did not work as the wood was not staight... Suggestion nick.s ............... resize your pictures to 640 pixels wide before you post them here. If you continue to add more pictures that size (2048x1536) it will become next to impossible for anyone on dial-up to see them.
That is a nice looking piece of wood.

Working with wood that you the history of is cool,, What kind of fir is that?? Where I live there's White Fir and Douglas Fir. The White fir is very soft and the Douglas Fir can be excellent to work with beautiful reds and golds.
By the way, it looks like you have nice shop to work in,, are you a furniture builder by trade?

Looks very nice.
If I remember right, Doug fir (pseudotsuga) is not a real 'fir' and does not occur naturally outside North America. Kinda looks like grand fir, but that's not an Eastern Hemisphere either. Jack's right, but those pictures are neat. Bubbanov |

Wow, another swiss build ! I was dreaming of this and yours looks promising
This is especially interesting for me as we can share information about the products we find here (Obi, Migros, Coop..) Volketswil ? I know someone there who was very fond on sound engineering, he seems to be at ETH now.

maybe a bit early but one of them will get baja electronics that I got from TDPRI member "nokaster" from belgium. and the other most probably CS nocasters. both will get MIM '50s Esquire Necks. I have not decided how to finish them... since the grain is very nice it will probably be natural for one of them. a long way to go... I will definitely update as I progress... Thanks, Nick |
