Fundraiser Prize Photos-- Rice "Denim" T-Style Guitar. WOW

I received the Rice "Denim" T-Style Guitar that Rich and Chris Rice so kindly built and donated to the TDPRI to help raise funds to support the site a couple of days ago. It's a beauty. I've been wanting to get photos up but my nagging "real work" kept getting in the way.

Finally I got some nice photos today. Needless to say, if plays GREAT. This is a fun guitar. And the denim is real denim but because of the finish it seems very tight on the body and all of one piece. The suede edges are super nice to the touch and look great too. The neck is smooth and feels great. I like the beefy knobs and the sound is full of body AND twang at the same time.

The winner of this is going to have a one of a kind guitar that will be their NEW favorite. That's for sure.

Thanks to Rich and Chris for their very generous donation!

No it won't. Don't worry everything is done by the email address on the donation. I just use the Username to make it easier to report back here who won.

That Blue Jean Baby is pretty darn sweet lookin'. Must be tough to let some of these geetars go out to the winners. Now we all get to quiver with anticipation for another flippin' week.

Thanks to Rice and TDPRI for making this such a great fundraiser.

I donated in the hopes of winning this one. I already have a Rice Custom Spalted Maple Esquire and it's awesome.

I took a boatload of pics before the guitar went out, they're all here:
http://ricecustomguitars.com/instrum...enimsuede.html
(also a few videos...)

This is the third, final, and best denim guitar we've built. Rich's fabric finishing process takes literally months to do, and it has a very cool feel to it. I'm very happy we decided to donate it to such a great place. Best of luck in the giveaway!

Here it is through a VOX AD30VT digital modeling amp set to model a bassman:

Rich and Chris Rice are about the nicest people to deal with, and they build killer guitars. And then they donate to this sort of giveaways out of the goodness of their heart.

Let's all take a moment to think about that. It's not like they're a shop like Fender or Gibson. This is a private, small business, donating a guitar. Not to take anything away from Fender or Gibson when they participate to such events. It's great and greatly appreciated. But I run a small business - actually, two. I know what it takes in terms of time, effort, and the toll it can take on your life and your family's life. Donating a whole guitar, like that, is big gesture and that should be highlighted.

In my various dealings with Rich and Chris - unfortunately, none took place in person :( - I have been impressed with their attitude and dedication to their craft. We're lucky to have them as friends in our community, and luckier yet that they make such cool guitars available to us. My next T-style guitar will be a Rice. No question about that.

It's "First Prize", although it's still pretty "Grand"...
