Bacchus Or Combat Made In Japan Teles?

Anyone Played/Ordered this brand?

They look pretty spiffy, some with double binding, etc. Just checked a couple out on EBAY....Around $900 USD...Any thoughts? Man, I think I like the *** Stuff!

I've heard of guitars that "fight back", but...

Bacchus...

and I have a bunch more but...everybody`s seen em here before and I don`t want post all the pics I have again. These are all from the older series before they stopped cloning to concentrate on their own designs, which I guess didn`t sell like they`d hoped because they began making the Fender and Gibson copies again but...have since stopped...again, except...for a few shops that I know of here who still get them made but without the logo on the headstock. I was turned onto them by a former member here Tom Quinn..where are ya Tom?...seems the natives have caught on to just how great they are `cause prices on used ones have gone way up. They also made the Riverhead line which were real nice too...plus their MIK Brians and the now MIC Bacchus Universe series...which I do not own. Parent company is Deviser who will build anything a custom has money to pay for and they also make the Momose line of high end guitars.
Combat...interesting name for a Japanese company eh...are very high end and sell for a lot. Seem to be top notch and I don`r see them in this city but have in Tokyo...love to own one but even used they cost a lot... I`m saving to go back home and I already own some exceptional MIJ guitars so a Combat would be a lateral move for me but they are exquisite.

coulda got another MIA Fender but this guitar is far superior to anything they sell in Japan and as it was used and going for 1/4 the price it sold for new...it was an easy choice...absolutely beautiful guitar made with the best of everything that can be had at this time...Voo-Doo pups in it and was made to order for a guy who played SRV in bars...I don`t but as soon as I played it for 5 minutes I knew it was coming home with me and will be coming home to Canada with me as well...it`s a Momose, related to the same company that makes Bacchus...though it doesn`t have the name on the headstock, it is embossed in the neck pocket.

Thanks for the pics, those are all nice!..T

The ones I really like, that I've been seeing, are the "double bound" bodied, Albert Collins style. I don't really think Fender US is offering any teles with bound bodies, are they?

This is a Bacchus telecaster I've bought three times (seriously). PhatTele sold it to me with the stipulation that I give him first dibs if I ever sold it. Sold it back to him with the same deal. Then I bought it back, then I sold it to him again. Then I bought it back.

Anyway, it's a great guitar, and I'm actually keeping it this time. It has Fralins in this picture.

I find that the Japanese sellers who ship to the US are asking a premium for these guitars on eBay, but they can be pretty reasonable when bought in the US from US sellers. I watched a Bacchus V copy go for around $600 on eBay. I should have bought it.

FJ = Fender Japan.
Dave...I sold a Bacchus like that to a Swede with the same stipulation, that he give me a chance to buy it back if he decided to sell it...but alas, he sold it to somebody else. I had put Duncan Nashville 5/2s in it and loved that thing...only sold it...at a loss... because the guy had helped me with a web site...ring a bell Paul?... and certainly in hind site regret letting it go...and had I known what was going to happen, I wouldn`t have.
Still...have since picked up other mighty fine MIJs but thats one I`d like back. If I remember....the serial was 07000...thats not it is it?

Sneaky, This Bacchus has serial #012028. Any idea of the year of manufacture? See my new pictures of the newly modded version here.

hard to say about the year for sure without the green warranty card, but by the time they stopped making their vintage series...they still make em but for a few shops over here and without Bacchus on the headstock, I know, their history of vintage clones stopped and started a couple of times that I`m aware of...so, by the time they finished the vintage series they were well into 6 digit serials...so best guess is mid to late 90s.

very interested in the Bacchus line of teles..anyone knows how to order them? Seen some at ikebe gakki, but do they do international? The prices are crazy, something like 12,000yen..particularly interested in the BTE-250 model..anyone played it and know the neck specs? interested in neck contour, f/b radius and fret size..Thanks!

those prices?... must be the Universe series, made in China and they aren`t the same quality as the bacchus vintage series from 10-15 years ago. You will get a low end MIC guitar, not to be confused with the guitars bacchus is well known for.
not sure if that chain of shops ships internationally.
