Finally got around making the actual decals. What happened is that I made some earlier, and cut them off the paper. So I was left with some shorter pieces on which I tried to print these decals.
The printer didn't like the shorter versions...

I didn't know what to do at first, but the solution was simple; I just taped a piece to a printer paper and printed...

I take this headstock as an example for the placement of the decal; main reason being the fact that the coloring exposes the decal very clearly:

Sanded, wiped with mineral spirits, taped off, the actual decal on it for placement:

Warming up the rattlecan... and spray!

I read that as an advice on a few boards, including this one. Can't remember what the exact reason was, but it seems that way the paint gets more even.

The paint came up peely at first (no pics of that), but ended up nice 'n' smooth!

And it's on!

Painting in progress...

The first result! Some paint is on the line, but I don't worry about that that much because a second decal will define the lines again.

Second decal put in place:

Against the light, to see the multiple layers:

Next up: shooting a few coats of clear.

I'm amazed by this result!

Well done!! This is one great build thread! Really enjoyed it!
I have one question for ya!
I downloaded inkscape to make a decal for my build buy I cant get it too look right.
What fonts did you use and how did you get them to be 'hollow' so you could fill in the gold?
Sorry about the questions!
Great thread!!
Conor

Thanks for the comments, and questions are no problem, that's how we all learn!

The word "TRYGGVECASTER" is done in Trebuchet, a Microsoft font.
The Tuuur logo was done by taking a photo from a Fender headstock and cutting that up, so that the upsidedown 'n' became the three 'u'-s in Tuuur. Then I traced that outcome using the "Draw bezier curves and straight lines" tool. That tool doesn't make traces perfect right away, it takes a lot of editing and smoothing using the "Select and transform objects" tool. I didn't exactly take the exact width and not all lines are exact, but I didn't want it to be too exact anyways.
Hope that answers your questions a bit!

I did one change today; I took out the no name 5 way switch and fitted a Fender 3 way switch, using the TDPRI 3 way wiring page.
I didn't think that changing a switch could make such a big positive difference in tone!

Had a moment of good sunny weather here, so I went out and took some pics...

The neckpocket, where I made a bit of a mistake... I could fix it, but I'm leaving it like this.

More pics...

Squier '51 info on the back of the headstock, I'll leave that on.

Body thickness compared to the Esquaria.

I personally pronounce it as treeg-vuh-caster...

Just to let you hear what it sounds like again, here is a song I wrote and recorded in Garageband this weekend. Rhythm guitar is the Esquaria; lead is the Tryggvecaster direct into Garageband, preset Eighties Alternative without the flanger:

Drunk Again by Tuuur (3.6 MB MP3).

Hi Arthur, that is an awful nice logo you made there.
Congrats, it looks the part.

About the spray can in the hot water.
I have done that thousands of times when building miniature racing cars.
The fact is that a spray can tends to freeze up whilst spraying which causes loss of pressure and slowing down the paint flow with dire consequences
for the result. (Orange peel or blotting)
Therefore placing the can in hot water is the solution.
