22nd non fret wear--why ?
I notice a lot of reliced guitars have wear beyond the last fret. I can't understand why this is done as surely there is no finger movement there. Am I missing something ?

I believe it comes from picking close to the neck with a plectrum. thereby scratching the finish of.

Yes...It is real! If you look in the Blackguard book almost every neck has wear after the 21st fret! Maestro hit the nail on the head! It comes from picking over the end of the neck...I do that alot because you get a "Certain " sound by doing that.

Give it up for 'GUITAR HOLDER', y'all. Show him some love.

...It has showed up on erry old TELECASTER I haff ever had before my eyeballs. If there iss any wear above the 12th fret there will be that wear above the 21st.
...The cause is as stated above. String vibration from heavy pickin. In fact I use this as a clue tew auth-sin-tiss-city and it shows up on many if knott most well used TELECASTERs. ![]() 0le FUZZY |

Sorry, I guess.
You understand, of course that the term "relic" refers to modern guitars with artificial wear. If you mean naturally worn then that's what you should say. And btw--every one of my older maple fretboard guitars were worn above the top fret eventually. Don't know why. Didn't seem important. P.
