ballpark price for used Highway 1 tele?

Ya'll - What would be a reasonable price for a used (2003-2004) Highway 1 tele in sunburst (good cond. in Dallas area)? This is the original model, not the Texas version or the upgraded one. I've found one that I like, but I think the dealer is asking too much. I may go for it anyway, but I'm trying to quantify this a bit. thanks (sorry if I posted in the wrong forum). =jason

Well a new one is $750. Depending on shape I would expect very lucky at 50%, up to 75% max on a good used (for either version).

And not everyone likes the big frets so I'm sure there are some people who would pay more (if they had to) to get the older neck they prefer. I love my early H1 and wouldn't give it up for $500.

Around $500 seems to be the eBay completed auction price on ones that actually sold.

Check out the Strat thread about discontinuation at GC of the whole Highway One line. I recall during the labor day sale most all red ones being $ 450 new; that can't be good for resale value short term. You may need to look for ones at GC with serial numbers indicating 2005 and 2006. I believe they are all code D, Teles, Strats and Hwy 1 Basses. I think that even includes a bag.

Little did I know where this kernel of information would take me, as it seems all the US Fender guitars logged in at GC in that time frame have had their internal costs to Guitar Center slashed so as to permit sales at about 39 percent of MSRP.
