Rosewood - Incoming!!!!!
So, after lusting after a rosewood Telecaster for some time and realizing that I can't possibly afford one of those beautiful custom shop reissues I decided to build one... I just ordered a 2 piece rosewood body and an all rosewood vintage neck from Warmoth... Cost a fair bit I must say but worth it I hope... It'll take 8 to 10 weeks for my order to arrive, so now comes the waiting... and the nerves!!! Oh man I can't wait!!!!
I already have a set of very tasty pickups and Callaham hardware sitting in a drawer waiting patiently so... as soon as my body and neck arrive it's Rosewood all the way!! Pics when it all get's going... Yippee!!!!

Sounds interesting. Is that body going to be solid or chambered?

Here's something similar from their website... Although this one has a walnut body and a white pickguard... Mine will have a traditional covered neck pickup and an 8 hole Black/White/Black pickguard it should look fairly similar - and with a bit of luck will have a beautiful warm, soulful, bluesy tone... At least, that's the idea anyway...

Nice project
although I doubt, that you will get a real solid body made of Rosewood. I believe that a solid block of Rosewood of the size of a Telecaster body would weight at least about 15lbs... And it wouldn't be a good idea either, remember Fender built the Rosewood Tele in '69 for George Harrison chambered/hollow, because the first prototypes turned out to be too heavy.... Solid means, IMHO, that it is not veneered. Btw, I own a (Japanese) Rosewood Tele out (mid-Eighties), and although chambered/hollow (2 Rosewood shells, sandwiched together to a thin maple strip) it is indeed on the heavy side. Sound's - however - dark , soft and rich. Bluesy, not twangy. Just my 2 cents....

After some consideration I have just spoken with Warmoth and have changed the order to a chambered body... A reasonably heavy guitar I'm not too worried about - but I don't want to be lugging a boat anchor around!
Thanks guys.
