Nocaster - Telecaster????
A buddy just aquired a Fender Custom Shop guitar purchased to be a Nocaster - it has a very large (huge) neck, fits the description of a Nocaster (thermometer and custom shop cases both included and COA), plain neck plate (SN on bridge), however the neck decal says Telecaster not Nocaster and has fretwire that feels like it is very slightly larger than vintage spec and the bridge pup has flat pole pieces.
Did Custom Shop release any Nocasters marked with Telecaster decals? Or could this be a custom release or perhaps something someone rigged? Any comments or help would be very much appreciated. Thanks! |

huh, maybe it's a custom order. what exactly does it say on the COA? does the serial match the COA? wonder if the "telecaster" is an aftermarket waterslide? are the Fender and telecaster all on the same decal or are they seperate?

The COA SN matches the bridge plate SN. The decal is one piece. The other thing - he just got back from comparing to a nocaster at our local Guitar Center - the fretboard radius is flatter and the fret wire is larger.
Perhaps this was some kind of custom or maybe a neck swap |

Case solved...more or less
Well - he pulled the neck off the guitar and the neck was penciled in with numbers and dates that matched those on the bridge & COA.
So, apparently this is a honest Nocaster that either left the factory with a telecaster decal or one that was added... Thanks alot for the replies |

Special runs of Nocasters with a 9 1/2' radius and larger frets aren't completely unusual, this store usually has some on its website for example...http://www.wildwoodguitars.com/elect...ustom_tele.php
The decal thing seems odd, but what the heck, everything else seems to match up.
