I want to see it bust out of that tape and reveal it's binding!

Oh...I'm sure that you could...if you sprayed the stuff on...

but since I am DUMPING it on from a flower sifter...there is not much control...it just sort of goes EVERYWHERE and ANYWERE!

Let's start taping off that binding...

One of these times will be the LAST time!

The top, with the WIDE binding, is much easier to tape. I may start putting the checkerboards on the back...just to make masking the back easier!

Yeah! That'll be the day!

To go around the horn, I first used the REALLY thin stuff, then backed it up with the wider.

Oh my!

I had a find at Dollar General today!

Rolls of blue painter's tape for $1.00.

Maybe that's whe they call it Dollar General!

It's funny. Right on the label it says 1.86" - Use as 2". Huh!?

I just took some Ibus to knock back some knee pain.

Once I can walk again I'm a-heading out to the garage to sprinkle some sparkles!

Knee feels better.

Let's go outside.

To the painting booth!

This stuff gets EVERYWHERE! I am going to try to limit the damage by working in a plastic tub. Should also make it easier to recycle/reuse the goods.

But first we'd best put down a sticky layer of that DEFT.

Then we can fill up the sifter and put it to work. No finesse here!

The DEFT seems to only glue on a tiny, thin layer. Most of this will brush right off...I hope!

As Martha Stewart used to say, "It's a good thing!"

Well, I don't know about you...but this is what I have been waiting for...

It's looking more and more like the plan is falling together!

Now let's put it back in the box to let that DEFT harden.

As Paul Jr. likes to say, "That's sick!"

Tomorrow the sides and the headstock.

Monday?

Well...Monday...MAYBE THE WORLD!

I say you leave the sides sparkle-free. It looks amazing as it is, but in the end its up to you. It'll be awesome either way!

Damn...definitely gonna hoist a few in memorium...I still recollect Star Trek The Next Generation..
From the episode "Relics"

Scotty: " Well....What is it then...?"
Data: " It is...It is...(sniffs tenatively...) It is GREEN!"

Good enought for the Aldebarens..and My own sense of Whiskey/Intoxication...Whoo-Hoo!

Thank you...

The sides? They've got to be green sparkles!

Or do you mean have I figured out how I am going to DO the sides?

Mask it off I reckon. Spray some DEFT and the sift some sparkles.

Probably attack it in four (4)quadrants...top side, bottom side, bottom bottom side, and then the neck pocket side.

If that makes any sense.

The stuff seems to dry pretty fast.

Might even go out and do some of it now...to get my mind off the blond in the black dress that was dancing in front of me all night.

Lord have mercy. That's just amazing. It's like Christmas and St. Paddy's day all in one. What a striking finish.

So here's the plan for the sides...

The binding gets masked off...again...

and we'll add some wings with some of that fine blue Dollar General tape.

then we'll slather it with sprinkled sparkled dust.

I'll go back out in a bit and brush off the excess.

Won't have ANY trouble finding the path...

Here she is, demasked, back in her tub...drying for the night.

Amazingly, the ONLIEST thing yet to sparkle is the headstock.

Tomorrow I might be able to clean up the binding and get the first coat of DEFT on it...that should tack down the flakes and keep them from peeling off in my grubby little mits every time I touch 'eem.

Of course, every time I close my eyes I'm seeing those sparkles...and that blond!

So, what kind of pickguard is it going to get?

I would like to vote for a silver sparkler.
