That's funny.

I guess Clown Barf is just one of those universal terms.

Thanks for the warm fuzzy.

Those are nice.

I've got a "normal" sparkle body to do, then I am going to try mixing a little holo-flake in with the silver on one. I can't help but think that is going to be SICK!

Thanks for sharing.

I'm going to be a whiner here and complain about having to go in to work the last three days. I enjoy my job...but I am on summer break for crying out loud! I'm suppose to be able to spend all day working on these guitars.

If nothing else, I am getting a lot quicker at masking these bad boys.

If you know what I mean.

Are tv jones's the same size as a mini-humbucker? with that tv jones plate fit a humbucker?

if not, are there mini-humbucker sized bridge plates available?

Can't help you with that.

Wish I could.

But I can't.

I have never seen one, but surely the pole spacing would make it less than optimal to use one at the bridge of a tele. Unless you use an Asian narrow spaced unit. OK, I guess if your hands are not like mine and Sasquatch's mits.

Packers.... thing.

It's confusing; the oakland A's and Packers have the same colors. When I went to visit the girlfriend's family in Green Bay, I kept thinking that I was seeing A's fans.

The Waylon-theme and Paisley-theme on the black do not exist in real life.

So yeah, I guess they are photoshopped.

They just sort of mysteriously popped up one day.

Maybe Scully and Mulder know what is going on.

The last time I was in Vegas I noticed what I think may be some of the earliest examples of a guitar shot with sparkles, the 1955 Gretsch White Falcon. They have a bunch of 'em on display along the walls of the high stakes poker room at the Hard Rock Casino. Gretsch trimmed the guitar with large, .062" square, gold-coated aluminum flake, still a trademark of the reissued guitar.

Can anyone think of an earlier example of a sparkle guitar?

Dude!

It's like you think about sparkles ALL OF THE TIME!

I can't say that I've seen anything earlier than that.

But then, they don't let me out very much.

The old Buckocaster is stumped!

I've been asked to sparkle this headstock.

I'm baffled about how to trim out the sparkle around that adjustment hole.

Maybe plug it up with tape.

Apply the sparkle.

When dry, carefully ream it out.

Collectively we are smarter than we are individually.

Any other ideas?

Cheers

Soft wax. Roll up a tiny sausage of the stuff with a smaller diameter than the hole (and making sure none gets on the surfaces to be painted) push it into the hole until it "grabs" and then keep pushing until it squashes out and the hole is filled. Then take a razor blade and slice the protruding part off so it's nice and flush. I'd give the area surrounding the hole a quick once over with some 400 dry again just to make sure there's no wax on the to-be-painted surface.

When you've finished painting, scalpel the hole trim and heat a drill bit up just a little with a match - push it into the wax and let it cool. Then pull the wax plug out.

I'm going to have to think that one over Nick. My Pappa told me to never get wax NEAR anything I was going to paint.

If you know what I mean.

This paint is never going to get any drier.

The parts are all here.

I reckon I can't dodge it any longer.

Maybe this time tomorrow it will be twanging!

This is a set of Lawrence Keystones.

Looks like they are available with chrome covers on the neck pickup now.

Look closely, it is not your momma's chrome cover.

Stew Mac has an AWESOME wood filler. You could plug the hole with that, paint, and then drill it out.

Just a thought.

I bet Durham's Rock Hard Water Putty would work as well.

That's a good Iowa product.

Just more checkerboards my friend.

Just more checkerboards.

You know how many checkerboards I've done by now?

Not enough!

That's how many.
