Wouldn't it be something to bind an Olympic White Tele with that.

Of course you would have to throw in a matching pickguard.

Yaaaaaahoooooooo....!

Enough Clown Barf for now.

Back to the Real World.

Funny thing, I have never really paid much attention to the frets on these Allparts necks.

My bad I suppose.

But they have always pretty much worked.

On this one though, to bind it, the frets had to come off.

Which means they had to go back on.

They have already pretty much been leveled and sort of crowned per Rob DiStefano's great tutorial.

They have also been lacquered over. Funny how that happens. We'll need to clean them up before we put on the neck.

Here are the "tools" that are going to be used.

320, 600, and 1000 grit paper and a Stew-Mac fret guard. That fret guard looks a lot like something I used in HS Drafting Class as an eraser shield. Just saying!

It just fits over the fret.

Seems to save a lot of taping.

Then we can take the lacquer off with the 320

and polish the fret with the 600 and 1000.

It sort of kind of doesn't look too bad.

The ferrules have already been put in. The bridge is being held in loosely with a couple of screws.

So let's see if the neck fits.

Then we'll run some fishline down the neck to see if it is pointing in the right direction.

It seems to be.

So I'll mark the screw holes and drill them.

Then wax up the screws and start them.

Then we can start work on the nut.

and get it pretty close before we do the final setup.

Everything is wired up and taped in place.

If the electronics check out, it might get finished up tonight.

But no promises.

If you know what I mean.

Don't know about the neighbors.

More about that later.

Used my last set of Grip-O-Matics tonight.

I tell you, once you have used them, the other ones just don't feel the same. Nothing there it seems like.

Tractocaster is waiting for some pickups.

Soon I hope.

Or maybe not.

But then again.

If you know what I mean.

Buck, I'm thinking the binding all the way around looks pretty groovy... your rack is a little Bucko guitar building history... thanks for letting me watch... you are awesome man. (I still like that green'un and the blue'un and the....)

Bucko: I can't do it, Leo. I can't install a humbucker.
Obi-Leo: The hum will always be with you.
Bucko: Obi-Leo.
[Obi-Leo's spirit approaches Bucko]
Bucko: Why didn't you tell me? You told me Orville betrayed and murdered my tone.
Obi-Leo: Your father... was seduced by the Dark Side of the Hum. He ceased to be toneful and *became* Darth Humless. When that happened, the good sound that was your tone was destroyed. So what I told you was true... from a certain point of view.
Bucko: A certain point of view?
Obi-Leo: Bucko, you're going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view. Tone was a good friend. When I first knew him, your luthier was already a great twanger. But I was amazed how strongly the Hum was with him. I took it upon myself to train him as a Twangmeister. I thought that I could instruct him just as well as Buck. I was wrong.
Bucko: There is still good in him.
Obi-Leo: He's more machine now than man; twisted and evil and humless.
Bucko: I can't do it, Obi-Leo.
Obi-Leo: You cannot escape your destiny. You must face Darth Humless again.
Bucko: I can't kill my own tone.
Obi-Leo: Then the Emperor Orville has already won. You were our only hope.
Bucko: Keef spoke of another.
Obi-Leo: The other he spoke of is your twin sister.
Bucko: But I *have* no sister.
Obi-Leo: Hmm. To protect you both from the Emperor Orville, you were hidden from your father when you were born. The Emperor Orville knew, as I did, if Darth Humless were to have any offspring, they would be a threat to him. That is the reason why your sister remained safely anonymous.
Bucko: Squier! Squier is my sister.
Obi-Leo: Your insight serves you well. Bury your feelings deep down, Bucko. They do you credit, but they could be made to serve the Emperor Orville.

Mate!!!! That was priceless! And what a great twist at the end - Squier is his sister? I never saw it coming!
