I spilled a tiny bit (I mean a TINY bit!) of Emerald flake in my music room 4 years ago. I recently found some in the back of my Mesa Boogie Combo in the bottom. That thing has been gigged a bit too since then, so it's been in and out of the house a lot...I hear ya about that stuff never completely going away!
BTW - love the Rubycaster Doubleneck. Mine is slotted for the Baritone on top w/Filtertrons though. Should be interesting - that is probably the next project to get knocked out, especially now that this thread has inspired me. |

Sharp eyes.
It is a Baja that Doug Halliday just covered for me. ![]() I'm waiting for a white pickguard for it. But that is another story.

I'd hate to be the cause of "now you tell me?" and retroactive redesigns, but I think I've seen in other doublenecks I've seen pictures of a switch that turns off one neck or another, to keep sympathetic vibrations or just bumping to make noise on the neck you're not playing. I don't think I see that here. Am I failing to see something?
This makes me more and more want to get myself a baritone. |

Move along now.
These aren't the 'droids you're looking for. There is nothing of interest here. Or in other words... Ixnay on the oolsckay alktay!

I agree that the baritone may need a decal, it was the first thing I noticed after getting past the beautiful sparkles. Or you can sent it to me and use the other double body for your customer.

Well now there then now it looks like I might have to put a decal on that bad boy.
But it will be over the finish...just like in the olden days!

Last June I found a used Baja on the the eBay. ![]() Pretty much decent enough guitar. I recently sent it out to Doug Halliday in Rochester NY for the treatment. He turned it around in 2 weeks! The original 5-hole white pickguard for this guitar is long gone. Over the winter it picked up a tortiseshell guard that looked great, but I don't think it would be the look we are going after with the leather cover. So we sent off to GFS for this one. ![]() It has 8-holes instead of 5. So we have to make some new holes in the body. ![]() For some reason, I use lots of pickguard screws! Found out long ago it is cheaper to buy them by the box! ![]()

Lots of leather and plastic to go through, but those 1/2 screws are long enough.
![]() Before I sent the body to Doug, the control plate had to come off. That S-1/4-way wiring is a real rat's nest! I took some photos before I unsoldered things to help me get them back where they were. ![]() I think they'll come in handy. I lengthened some wires to make things easier to reach. Someday I'll need to pickup some heat-shrink tubing so things can look neater. ![]() It worked the first time! With the pickguard and control plate in place, we'll take off the PPP (Pickguard Protective Plastic.) ![]() I hope I like the neck pickup height. Not only are the adjustment screws under the pickguard, they are also under the leather!

I've been using WebStrings Light-Heavy 10-52 strings for the last several years. There may be better strings. There may not be. I don't know. These work for me. I tend to change them FREQUENTLY.
![]() This guitar, like most of mine, has Glendale Wide-Intone Twang saddles. The E-A saddle has a slightly higher angle to compensate for the increased thickness of the E-A strings on the heavy end of the light-heavy combination. By golly, here's the finished thing with a matching strap. ![]() A closer view of the front. ![]() and the back ![]() Doug does fine work and is a great guy to work with.
