Actually Bucko, it would be beyond cool to have a series of ten-minute(ish) videos posted on YouTube and linked here. You could do one on cutting the shape of the body, routing the cavities, spraying the finish, etc.
I know it would be a total pain for you, but it would be the only way to top the Buttercaster thread. Think about it! Oh - and binding! You are the master of binding!

Thank you for the props on the binding. That seems to be one part of this I am getting figured out. The old Emeraldcaster is just hanging there drying, drying, and doing some more drying. Interestingly, when I just walked into the house tonight, I DID NOT SMELL DEFT. That has to be a good sign!

Just took at look at it.
The finish (DEFT) is getting nice and "clicky." When I hit it with my fingernail, it goes "click" instead of "thunk." "Click" has always been bery, bery, good to me. It means the finish is getting as close to as hard as it will ever be! This guitar looks different every time I change the lighting conditions. ![]() You can see how nice and "wavy" it is. "Lumpy" might be an even better word. ![]() It clearly needs MUCH more clear before I can begin to sand it. But we are getting closer with every coat of DEFT. I loves me my sparkles!

I don't think so...the cyanoacrylate I have just been using stunk like it always does!
One thing that I know for sure now, if I don't stop to setup and take photos, I can glue single ply binding on two bodies in about 1 hr 15 min. That is probably plenty slow by some standards...but I am getting there. ![]() Rave on Dudes!

Just curious, but has anyone considered or tried Paint with Pearl flakes? They are .004 size flake according to the website. I have my paint guns, and I am waiting for a compressor. I have to wait all winter now to try this stuff. It will be too cold now until early summer of next year It's freezing here in the north! The cost is quite cheap for a jar or bag of flakes.
I wonder how may coats to cover a body if they are this small. Great thread as always!! Better than TV! Regards Moo |

I've run out of fingers! If we call a "coat" two wet-on-wet passes with the trusty old spray gun...I think we are up to 10 coats. Still a loooooooooong way to go. But that's all right. You just can't rush this stuff. Now...if I was using the amazing 2-part modern automotive clear coat goop...this guitar would be strung up already. But like...I dig old school! (at least this time around...you'd better believe the next one will be different!)

Somebody has. I remember reading about it. I think the report is that it worked very well.
I on the other hand want those stinkin' big flakes! 0.015 flake would have nearly 16 times the surface area of a 0.004 flake. IMHO when it comes to flake - bigger is better. (Now I know that there is even LARGER flake available than the 0.015 that I am using...to that I reply, "All in good time. All in good time!" As always, thank you for your kind words. Quote:

hey buck, I was going through a previous thread of yours. (new Krylon colors out) and it prompted me to checkout their home page where low and behold I came across these...
http://www.krylon.com/main/color_pro...ge_alt=Krylon® Glitter Sprays sparkle in a spray can. their color selection may be next to nill but hey! they do have silver. would this stuff work on a guitar body? the list of uses DOES say wood. hey maybe I should try to track a few cans down. too bad they don't have Emerald. you can buy alot of spray cans for the cost of that compressor. not saying it was a bad purchase, just trying to talk myself out of it at the moment

I had really told myself...no pictures on these...just get them finished...
but here I am, waiting for some glue to dry...and trying to placate my yammering public. This is what I am doing... ![]() Now only 57 more inches of it! As always, thank you for your continued interest.

More of the same!
![]() Only thing left on the Doublerubycaster is the recurve by the neck. I'll glue and clamp that up in a bit... As soon as I get my "clamp" off the Rubycaster. ![]() OMG! Is that a NEW box of Sparkleflakes in the background? ![]() My precious things!

Buckocaster! Are you using a cork to clamp the binding in the neck recurve?
And which wine is the best for twang?
