Tele with a FilterTron

The other day i was offered a Tele with a FilterTron pickup in the neck position. I sounded pretty good in an un-Tele like way, but i only tried it in his house with the volume pretty low. My question is, has anyone got a Tele with this combination and how does it measure up at a gig? How did you like it? This guy wouldn't part with it, so i wasn't able to try it out in anger.

Filtertrons in a Tele

I have done this on a few guitars over the years. The tone in a Alder body/Maple Top is more like a fat Strat than a Tele tone. Very useable in a gig and sits in a different space than the Tele/Strat/LP. I like it a lot.

Yeah...DITTO on all counts. I am probably gonna go for it. It's pretty unusual and it's also a new toy to play around with. The combination looks like a grower too.

PS. rhomco...your guitar looks at lot better then the one i'm getting. This one is just a MIA S/B Standard.
