I'm gonna side with Mark on this. If a monkey like me...
![]() ...can put together several guitars from parts and all have them be playable and toneful to the point where people want me to help them do the same... Then it's really not that hard. Here's my latest as proof that it's doable. It's not quite the quality of photo I'd like (since I haven't had access to a good camera), but it's just as nice as anything factory, just to my specs. ![]() EDIT: Wow... I didn't really didn't notice that this was a necropost. LOL Last edited by GilmourD : July 6th, 2008 at 05:51 PM. |

Just plan it out...I say 2 weeks but the old Army Green Kustom D'Lux had been in my head for awhile.....The thing to remember is you can always change things on these amazing guitars....And I believe Leo knew there would be a market for this or like when it came time for a refret or a busted headstock.....you would just replace the neck with a donor neck or a replacement..... |

You can do it..take your time and if you run into something you are not sure about stop and post up....pics. always help and the search function up top is a great tool....Use it. Lots of more pro. tips to be had here than anywhere I know of....Don't rush anything....I made the mistake when it came to wire mine up.....and with mine being pine and with a thin finish....I donked her up and had to sweat some dings out.....

I would classify Pat as a "cake decorator" as opposed to a real guitar builder. I'm sure his guitars are fine and his customers seem happy enough, but what I find appalling is the sheer amount of hyperbole that goes into his listings. A four paragraph description of a set of stock Gotoh reisssue tuners is not merely "good marketing." It borders on deception because it conveys the impression that this particular set of tuners is somehow unique, when in fact they are not. This is repeated ad nauseum for every part on the guitar including the strings. I would also take issue with the term "World's Best." This is an honorarium given to you by your peers, not one you bestow on yourself.
