Yet Another USA Fender Chambered Body Telecaster?

Hello, So just when I thought I had seen it all concerning chambered body Tele's I walked into the local GC the other day and there front row and center was a Brand spanking new USA Fender Chambered Mahogany body Telecaster with a rosewood fretboard, medium jumbo frets, MOP fret markers and painted gloss black headstock with chrome decal. The mahogany body was tastefully done in the heritage cherry type finish.

I cannot find this cataloged on Fender website? Anybody have an idea about this model or a link to it on Fender?

Thanks.

Was the body chambered, or was it a thinline?

What was the price tag?

It was chambered not a thinline(no holes, looks like a solid body). It was over $1k.

Help me out here folks!

Might it have been a Telesonic. Telesonics have a chambered Mahogony body, with painted headstock. They come with D'Armond 2k P'ups that have
a definite NON-tele sound/tone. I had one in tobacco/brown 'burst. Played like a dream but could never warm up entirely to the tone....PLUS the damn thing weighed nearly as much as my 80 Les Paul...{;-)

The GC in Totowa NJ has one like you've described. I read somewhere that it was a special run for them. It's as light as any Thinline I've held. Nice color too.

GC - Fairfax VA has one also

Saw one in GC in Fairfax Virginia on Thursday. It was stuck away from all the other Fenders down on the end of the wall with the Deans, Jacksons and Daisy Rock. I picked it up for a few seconds....seemed well made and light, but I've never gotten along with the modern bridge so I stuck it back on the wall.

All the GCs seem to have them, so it might be made for them. I've picked up about 3 of them, really wanting to like it. I didn't. Very screechy and thin without any of the resonance that you'd expect from having some air in the body. Awful expensive too. JMHO and YMMV and all that, of course.

Now picture that guitar with a gloss black headstock with chrome decal and medium jumbo frets with MOP dot inlays and the body is the same color but made out of mahogany. Then bingo you have have it!

It seems that if it was a special run for GC they would catalog as such like the limited all rosewood one they are building for Wildwood Guitars and a couple others right now? Like this:

http://www.fender.com/products/searc...tno=0150067821

C'mon if they build it they should catalog it?

Thanks.

In the new issue of Guitar & Bass Magazine (UK), in their report of the Frankfurt guitar show there were three new Fenders.
The first two are already on the Fender website (a Commemorative '57 Strat, and a Spalted Custom Tele).
The third isnt on the website. The picture of it only shows the body, but its a special run Palo Escrito Telecaster. The picture shows a tele with a body made of Palo Escrito, with a rosewood board, black pickguard.

Fender never Catalogs FSR models because they are not only limited quantities, but limited for purchase from the one place that ordered them. Also an FSR order could happen anytime after catalogs are printed, and the spec's wouldn't be known to fender until they order request is made by GC/MF/whoever.

Now, for the guy out there that wants a thin thin neck (albeit 1 + 11/16ths) this guitar sure has it.

I thought that the chambered body Mahogany Tele was a standard product...

I bought one on ebay (not from GC) it's beautiful. Is this what you saw?
