Maybe this Ferden Jackcaster qualifies as a Thinline. Originally it was a very heavy Korean copy. I hollowed it out from the back side and made plastic covers. The odd pickguard shape was required to cover all original screw holes. No touch-up painting was required

Thinline project in the making
Hi you all
I'm amazed. All these beauties, and a great lot made from scratch... congratulations to all of the makers. I am going to make a thinline on my own - unfortunately I bought a warmoth strat neck, but anyway. My idea is to apply a maple or mountain pine cover to a maple sustain block/sides unit. Has anybody already heard of such a construction? If not, i'll be the first to post my efforts in this forum (well, I'll post it anyway!). |

I've posted some pics of this one, but... since you asked for it...
Its body is made from an IKEA shelf, most of the hardware and the neck is from a 1960s Teisco, I fitted new no-name Kluson copies, and the tremolo arm was a window lever in a previous life. Saved that from the landfill. ![]() ![]() ![]()
